Paraguay Urban Rail Project
In the presence of H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and H.E. Santiago Peña, President of the Republic of Paraguay, Etihad Rail signed a Head of Terms agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Paraguay to develop an urban rail project linking the capital, Asunción, with the city of Luque.
The agreement provides the framework to develop, operate, and maintain a light rail passenger corridor. Phase 1 covers an 18-kilometre route between Asunción and Luque, with Phase 2 providing for a further 26-kilometre extension to Ypacaraí.
The project supports bilateral cooperation and the development of modern, sustainable transport infrastructure, enhancing urban connectivity and contributing to economic growth.

UAE–Jordan Railway Company
The United Arab Emirates and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan signed an agreement to develop a railway network in Jordan and establish the UAE–Jordan Railway Company, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi-based L’IMAD Holding Company (L’IMAD) and several Jordanian partners.
Through its executing arm, Etihad Rail, the company will undertake the construction and operation of a 360-kilometre railway project linking the main mining areas of Al-Shidiya and Ghor Al-Safi to the Port of Aqaba. The project is designed to transport up to 16 million tonnes of phosphate and potash annually and has a total investment value of US$2.3 billion.
The project will strengthen Jordan’s transport infrastructure, enhance export capabilities, and support long-term economic development.
